And you thought you had problems with your neighbor… A woman in New York has taken a neighbor dispute to new heights. According to United Press International (UPI), Shirley Draper was cited for criminal mischief in relation to taking down a fake testicle picture that was located on her neighbor’s property. Most likely you are asking why her neighbor had this picture up in the first place. It seems they believed they had a justifiable reason; Draper was the first to prominently display a pair of imitation testicles in her backyard in full view in an attempt to annoy neighbors. It worked.

Neighbors of Draper attempted to legally settle their dispute, but were not able to find legal remedy in the court system. So, in protest, what other choice did they have but to put up a large picture of fake testicles to provide their neighbor with a taste of her own medicine? The picture is displayed in full view each time she looks out her window. According to Enid News and Eagle, the dispute has been in place for many years, although what initially prompted the dispute between the two neighbors is unclear. It is most likely a very safe bet to assume the damage is irreparable, having reached the battling fake testicle phase.

As both neighbors learned, in most cases a dispute between neighbors does not make it to the level of a legal issue. However, property damage is another issue. A neighbor dispute is often tricky and it is wise not to let an issue escalate. Dealing with a problem early on will be easier to resolve than letting the issue grow and fester into something as large as fake testicles. Our hope is that these neighbors have finally stepped back and can laugh about the situation.
